On the eve of COP30 (2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference), which will take place in Belém, Pará, the dialogue on sustainability and energy transition gains new momentum. 

This Tuesday (14), in Brasília, the dinner “The Role of the Legislature in the Energy Transition” took place, a meeting that brought together parliamentarians, public managers, civil society leaders and youth representatives to strengthen proposals for commitment to alternatives for climate change. 

Event brings together authorities and young leaders to promote the climate agenda 

The event, organized by International Youth Observatory (OIJ), in partnership with RenovaBR, featured Daniel Calarco, president and founder of OIJ and current RenovaBR Leaders Training student; São Paulo city councilwoman and RenovaBR alumnus Marina Bragante; Chico Paiva, an international relations and economics specialist; and Maria Emília Peres, sustainability strategy partner at Deloitte Brasil. Also participating in the program was former governor of the Federal District and former Secretary of Green Economy, Rodrigo Rollemberg. 

OIJ President and Founder Daniel Calarco emphasized that moments like these are important to remember the role of the legislature in creating incentives, as well as imposing barriers, imposing penalties, and ensuring the success of sustainable initiatives. 

Together, the hosts led a strategic dialogue on how the Legislature can advance public policies for a fair, responsible, and inclusive energy transition—with special attention to the leadership of youth.

More than just a meeting, the initiative represented a concrete step towards cooperation between legislators, managers, and funders to ensure the training and productive inclusion of young people in solutions for Brazil's sustainable future.
