With the 2024 electoral process coming to an end, December brings decisive deadlines for voters and elected candidates. The calendar defined by the Electoral Court highlights three essential dates that must be observed by everyone involved in the election.

These milestones in the electoral calendar represent the end of a democratic cycle that involved millions of Brazilians, consolidating the commitment to citizen participation and the strengthening of institutions.

Justification for absence in the first round

On the day December 5th, the deadline for voters who did not vote in the first round to justify their absence ends. The justification can be made in person, at any electoral office in the country, or in a practical and digital way, through the e-Título application.

Failure to comply with this obligation may result in sanctions, such as the inability to obtain a passport or participate in public competitions.

Graduation of elected officials

Already on the day December 19th, the last formal step of the electoral process takes place: the certification of the elected candidates. The ceremony, which officially certifies the elected candidates as qualified to take office on January 1st, is also a moment to reaffirm the commitment to democracy and the responsibilities inherent to the mandates won.

Closing campaign bank accounts

Finally, on the day December 31st, the deadline for banks to finalize the bank accounts used by candidates to move resources from the Party Fund and the Special Campaign Financing Fund (FEFC) ends. 

This step is essential for the official closure of campaign financial transactions and to ensure adequate accountability to the Electoral Court.
