RenovaBR held the first edition of “Brazil in Debate”, new proposed event series to promote qualified discussions on the main national agendas, through data, evidence and experts in the field. The opening theme was the most strategic at the beginning of the National Congress's legislature: the Tax Reform.
With mediation by the CEO of values, Patricia Audi, the event was attended by highly relevant guests on the topic: Bernard Appy, special secretary for Tax Reform at the Ministry of Finance; Marcos Mendes, economist and researcher at Insper; and Marcio Telles, representative of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Secretary Appy spoke about the distortions and complexities of the tax system, which impact the Brazilian GDP, and how the Ministry of Finance hopes to work together with the National Congress to build the text of the Tax Reform, using as a basis the accumulated work on PEC 45/2019 and PEC 110/2019. Then, Marcos Mendes brought some of his knowledge about Brazilian taxation, and Marcio Telles spoke about the urgency of reform, reaffirming the importance of increasing the efficiency of the Brazilian economy and the competitiveness of companies.
In Brasília, the event was attended by a large number of first-term parliamentarians and others with extensive experience in the field. Leaders trained by values, as well as other parliamentarians, such as Sergio Moro, Deltan Dallagnol, Pedro Campos, Adriana Ventura, Luiz Carlos Hauly, Arnaldo Jardim, Jonas Donizette and many others. The first edition of Brasil em Debate had the participation of 160 guests, including parliamentarians, the press and partner institutions.
The event featured great repercussion in the media, with more than 132 articles broadcast and published on different channels, such as Power 360, State and Economic Value. It also gained prominence in GloboNews and in TV Record.
